This study evaluates the potential of natural language processing (NLP) models in an emotion-driven bibliotherapy framework to improve mental health challenges.

Depression affects millions globally, yet identifying symptoms remains challenging. This study explored detecting depression-related patterns in social media texts using natural language processing and machine learning algorithms, including decision trees and random forests. Our findings suggest that analyzing online text activity can serve as a viable method for screening mental disorders, potentially improving diagnosis accuracy by incorporating both physical and psychological indicators.

Through a survey of college students they found that those with higher substance misuse had higher levels of anxiety, depression, and FoMO, while those involved in longer-term relationships had lower levels of FoMo and alcohol use.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a chemical extracted from cannabis and shown by some studies to alleviate the symptoms of many mental disorders, especially major depressive disorder. The authors hypothesized that chronic treatments with purified CBD through oral administration would relieve depression-associated behaviors in normal healthy rats under adverse conditions. A statistical analysis of the experimental data suggested that long-term consumption of CBD could elicit depression associated symptoms in normal rats without depression. The results imply that people should consume CBD-containing products with extreme caution and highlight the need to carefully monitor the use of CBD in health care products.
