Dr. Fankhauser to step down as Board Chair

Since helping to start JEI in 2012, I have had the pleasure of seeing the organization grow substantially in terms of the number of student papers we have published and the impact that we have on young scientists. I have also had the distinct pleasure of working with extraordinarily passionate people who have dedicated their “free” time to supporting young scientists through their various roles at JEI. But after more than 12 years of service to JEI as the chair of the board of directors, I am happy that the organization is in such a wonderful position and ready for new ideas and perspectives. As such, I am stepping down as the board chair and delighted to welcome Lauren Sutton into the role, starting March 1st, 2024. While I will continue to serve as a member of the board, I look forward to supporting Lauren as she takes the reins and leads the board of directors forward. Lauren has been a board member since 2022 and has shown a passion and commitment for our organization since day 1. Please join me in congratulating Lauren and welcoming her to her new role.
